This behaviour, referred to as urine-marking, scent-urination or self-enurination, is normally accomplished by the animal turning its head and shoulders downward and to the rear and urinating with erect penis onto his face, beard and front legs. Urine emissions range from a spray to a more concentrated stream and are discharged in spurts or as a steady flow. In most cases, the animal actively positions its mouth and nose in the urine flow and laps at the urine with its tongue. By arching its back while in this posture, the goat can reach its penis with its tongue and mouth. In this position, the animal often grooms (licks) its penis either with or without any observable urine discharge (Price et al., 1986).
