Intrigued by the beauty of Lake Toba, we googled our way to a 3 day adventure to North Sumatra, the wild west of Indonesia. Barely on any travelers' radars YET and away from busy tourist tracks, is this bountiful island of stunning scenery, misty panoramas and abundant wildlife (*in particular, the famous wild orangutans 🙈🙉🙊!!*)
Thanks to the new International airport ✈ at Siborong-borong, this is the new perfect weekend getaway from Singapore.
====================
7 of our favorite things to do in North Sumatra:
1. Channel your inner Tarzan by trekking the jungle🌳 in Gunung Leuser National Park to spot the red apes 🐵
2. Take a refreshing dip 🏊🏼♀ and venture into a tubing experience across the Bohorok River
3. Support sustainable tourism by living in the green heart of the Sumatran ecosystem at the Bukit Lawang Eco-lodge 🍃
4. Embark on a day tour to Samosir Island 🌴and bask in the unique Batak Christian culture 💒
5. Surround yourself with mountains ⛰, peace and beauty at Lake Toba, the world's largest volcanic lake
6. Visit the otherworldly natural wonder and the highest waterfall of Indonesia, Sipiso-piso waterfall 🌈
7. Stopover at the dramatic Indo-Mughal Catholic church ⛪in the capital city Medan
