The northern-theater command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army has recently drilled its anti-aircraft defense and air-to-ground assault capabilities with exercises done after nightfall.
The overnight drill, codenamed Firepower-2016, has pitched the air defense unit as the Red Corner against the Army air force unit as the Blue Corner.
The Reds have lost no time in spotting, tracking and locking onto the reconnaissance planes, fighter bombers and helicopters from the Blues. The anti-aircraft guns are quickly trained onto these offending enemy aircraft. The Reds have also to pierce through an enemy electromagnetic jamming and interfering before they open fire.
The Red Corner troops have early warning radars, ground observations and firing position spotters to rely on in their counter-attacks against the enemy jamming and interfering, before they fire different weapons on different enemy aircraft.
The surveillance and monitoring/tracking network of the Red Corner proves so sufficient and efficient that it has provided the central command with pinpoint information on enemy aircraft. The Reds have then resorted to an assortment of anti-aircraft weapons like guns, rockets and missiles to weave an impenetrable net of firepower.
The officers and soldiers participating in the overnight drill have taken it as a combat scenario exercise which helps enhance their battle readiness. More on: [ Ссылка ]
