The Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge, China's first kilometer-level road-rail suspension bridge with a main span of 1,092 m, was opened to vehicles on December 11. Designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute (BRDI, a subsidiary of CREC) and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group (MBEC, a subsidiary of CREC), it is the world’s fastest-running, largest-running load and largest-span road-rail suspension bridge. Its opening marks China's first construction of a suspension bridge on a high-speed railway.
Through constant innovation and technical support during the design and construction process, CREC’s team made the bridge much “smarter". On May 9, the erection of the river-crossing-tower 5G base station of the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge was completed. Covered by 5G signals, the bridge will not only be able to monitor the movement of the ships in real time, but will also be able to intelligently monitor the bridge’s health in the future.
