Ranger Falls and Green Lake begin by the Carbon River entrance of Mt. Rainier national park. Recent wind storms have caused many fallen trees and added more spice to the otherwise flat part of the hike down the Carbon River Road trail.
In the summer time, Green Lake is a pristine, serene mountain lake that does have a green shade to it. In the winter time covered in snow, it affords an avalanche free hike.
Doing these 2 hikes takes you 10.8 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1,300 feet already.
For those like us that were looking for more mileage and adventure, you can retrace the path back down Carbon River Road trail and head further in to look for Chenuis Falls. This makes the hike total 13.03 miles.
Unfortunately, the bridge leading to the falls has been washed away - which led to the adventure part of our hike!
Check out at 09:10 onwards to see how some in our group crossed the Carbon river to get to the falls. Of note, this is not a recommended part of the hike!
