In fact, it’s been clinically shown that statin cholesterol lowering drugs do in fact, cause erection problems and impotence.1
And this is because statin drugs lower cholesterol by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol.
Unfortunately, cholesterol is required to make your “sex hormones” in both men and women, such as testosterone, estrogens, etc.
And these hormones, especially testosterone, is required for your sex drive, libido, erections and an orgasm.
In fact, in addition to erectile problems, both men and women taking statin drugs, report having difficulty reaching an orgasm.2
Another common side-effect with statin drugs is depression.
