This video covers the properties of HCF and LCM. LCM stands for Lowest Common Multiple which means the smallest common multiple of “n” numbers which is divisible by all the “n” numbers. HCF or Highest Common Factor of “n” numbers is the highest possible number that divides the “n” numbers exactly.
Example 1: The LCM of 2, 5 is 10 since it is divisible by both 2 and 5.
Example 2: The HCF of 24, 36 is 12 as both 24 and 36 is divisible by 12.
There are 3 main properties of LCM and HCF -
Property 1: LCM × HCF = Product of the Numbers
Property 2: HCF of Co-prime numbers = 1, and
LCM of Co-prime Numbers = Product Of The Numbers
Property 3: LCM of fractions = LCM of Numerators/ HCF of Denominators, and
HCF of fractions = HCF of Numerators/ LCM of Denominators
