INGREDIENTS:
Wet ingredients :
Warm milk : 1 cup
Vinegar :1 tsp or lemon juice one and a half tsp
Oil : ½ cup
Dry ingredients:
Maida / all purpose flour : 1 ½ cup
Sugar : 1 cup
Baking Powder : 1 tsp
Baking Soda : ¼ tsp
( No essence is used in this recipe but if you like to add you can add vanilla essence )
For decoration
Whipped cream : 1 cup before whipping
Colours preferably liquid or gel as powder colours do not mix well.
Nozzles: 2 D for white coloured icing
French star nozzle small for the bodice
Star nozzle for the pink skirt panel
Procedure: The first step to begin the cake is by preheating the oven / kadhai / cooker till the time we prepare the cake batter. This is done as the baking powder starts to react with the other ingredients and immediate heat is required for the cake to bloom up. If this step is ignored the cake will not rise and will not be light and spongy.
At this stage mix the milk and vinegar and keep for 10 mins for the milk to curdle.
Step 2: Grease the mould with oil and Maida.
Step 3: Sieving the dry ingredients is done to remove the lumps if any and to incorporate air into the flour which helps the cake to rise.
Step 4; mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients lightly. Do not over mix at this stage. Immediately pour the cake batter in the greased mould and bake at 180 degree Celsius for 40-45 minutes. This time may vary with each one depending upon the oven used.
step 5: cut the cake in layers. add whipped cream in between the layers. after a thin over all coat keep it inside the refrigerator so that the cake crumbs get set and do not come between the cake decoration. after 10 mins decorate the cake
