SPOKANE, Wash. - This morning a network of thieves stole nine cars from Northtown Auto Sales on Division and Garland in north Spokane.
Fifteen sets of keys were also stolen and damage was done to the building.
Just before two this morning, a thief climbed through the roof of the building to rappel himself inside.
Nick Arrotta, general manager of Northtown Auto Sales said he noticed several cars were missing as soon as he arrived at work this morning.
When he went inside, he saw the damage.
A huge hole was cut out of the ceiling in one of the offices, the only part of the building that doesn't have cameras or an alarm system.
That's also where all the car keys were.
The thief must have taken the keys and went back through the roof, because no alarms ever went off.
Camera footage from the lot shows the thief stealing a dodge minivan.
Less than an hour later he comes back, but this time with friends.
“Then they just start taking cars all night long. And it takes them like 20 minutes to like go and then come back, 30 minutes and then they just stay all night long, just keep taking cars,” Arotta said.
Some of the cars they stole include a few BMWs and a Mercedes
“It takes a lot of work just to transport 10 separate cars. It takes people and manpower and you've got to get them across town, and I just don't know where they're going to hide 10 cars. So, I think that would be the biggest thing, if we can get this out there…it would be a humongous help. Like i said, I think our insurance is only going to cover so much, so if we never found these cars that would be pretty devastating,” Arrotta said.
Arotta said the damage plus the stolen cars total to more than $250,000.
Two stolen vehicles have been found in a parking lot in North Spokane.
