With time, the shifter cable linkage tends to break and the car doesn’t shift. It’s a common issue for GM cars including my GMC Sierra Truck. The dealers don’t sell you the linkage alone, in fact you will have to buy the entire cable which is really expensive and the labor cost is even higher.
Using a 2 mm drill bit, and a small washer, I was able to fix it permanently. Best of all, this quick repair didn’t even cost me a dollar.
