We railfan the Feather River Route in 1971 and chased Western Pacific, 3544, a GP40, along with two other WP locos in the canyon. The train leads the Ford Fast through the Feather River Canyon. The agreement to build the Ford plant was reached in 1953 and the first new car was finished in late February 1955. Here, we see the Ford Fast at Tunnel 11 and 10, while it follows the rock slide fence that was installed to let crews know if rocks are on the tracks ahead.
