Fourteenth devlog for my Labyrinth Lesmosyne, my turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG, developed in Godot.
This week is the result of a lot of recent brainstorming, but I haven't done any coding or art - this is very much a game design phase. I have my thoughts on a core of 46 character/enemy class ideas, and I go into detail on my thoughts on all of them, including any skills I've come up with for each, as well as my process for generating ideas.
00:00 Introduction
00:58 Listing the classes so far
01:55 Defining tiers of classes
04:11 Filling the fusion table
07:06 Balancing stat spreads
09:18: Going over general class roles for each class
20:37 Diving into specifics on class skill ideas
40:49 Outro
The main inspirations for the game have been Shin Megami Tensei, particularly Strange Journey, as well as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon. Like SMT and Pokemon, the game has a recruitment mechanic for party members.
