FLIGHT #7/7 MOTOR SICH AN-24RV UR-BXC UZHGOROD (UDJ) - KIEV (IEV), MARCH 21, 2014
This video has been remastered in significantly improved in Sight & Sound and replaces the earlier version, published in 2015.
In March 2014 I still had some unused vacation days from the previous year and so I decided to do a little tour of the network of Motor Sich Airlines, based in Zaporizhia, in the Central South Eastern part of the Ukraine.
My pal, Steve Kinder needed no persuasion and instantly agreed to join.
The plan was to sample the Classic AN-24 in depth because the AN-148 and AN-74 of Motor Sich are by no doubt bound to survive their older sister by years to come.
After a very short night having drinks with the lovely couple owning the small hotel “Praha” it was again an early rise back to Uzhgorod airport.
This video features the early morning flight onboard AN-24 UR-BXC from Uzhgorod back to Kiev in beautiful clear skies.
After take-off in the opposite direction over Slovakian airspace and passing the town of Uzhgorod, we had a wonderful view of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains.
Heading East, we passed passed Zhuliany airport and the city of Kiev first, before turning left for breathtaking finals over downtown Kiev.
Day Five ended our series onboard Motor Sich Airlines fleet of Soviet Classics.
After picking up our deposited luggage at the JETEX-lounge we were called a taxi for the second part of our trip, some extensive sightseeing of Kiev, not without visiting the grounds of the Ukrainian uprising, the Maidan and paying tribute to the massacred Jews of Kiev, at Babi Yar.
