In this week’s episode I am joined by Kate Charles Garden Design and we’re talking about how working with TLC has rocketed her business from 0-15 clients.

Kate has been a TLC member for 2 years now, she was struggling to get her name out there and was unsure of what marketing to do to get her brand new garden design business off the ground. She started off by joining a free masterclass and winning 6 months of free membership. ‘I very quickly learned that the membership was completely invaluable’

What was the main things that took you from 0-15 clients?

1. Having the confidence to know I’m doing the right thing, ‘TLC taught me to keep the faith and the clients will come’
2. Kate did a lot of market research before she started to look at what type of clients she wanted to attract (her avatars) then it’s knowing where you can find these clients, I.e where do they hang out?

How do you find landscapers in your area to work with and get your gardens built?
Kate followed TLC tried and tested methods using lumpy mail and follow up calls to build relationships

Kate’s advice to people worried about getting clients:

1. Focus on who you’re trying to communicate with, once you know who you’re aiming towards then you know what type of messaging you need to do. The clients are out there and keep your faith because the clients will find you and that’s the best type of clients because they want to work with you!
2. Make sure you’re the best garden designer in your area, you have the best experience, qualification, service and knowledge etc. That is the way to make sure clients will work with you rather than your competitors.
