Today marks the start of Men's Health Week - a time for us to increase awareness of male health issues on a national level and to encourage men, boys, and their families to make their health and wellbeing a priority.
The theme for 2021 focuses on supporting men's health by connecting with others and building a well-being 'team'. Research supports that men can empower their physical, emotional, and social health by staying connected and seeking support early if something is wrong.
This Men's Health Week, we encourage men to find the group or network that have their back. This network can build them up, they'll be there for the good times and the tough times, and fill a gap when they need support.
If a man in your life needs help forming their wellbeing team, please invite them to come and see us at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern) (RFDSSE) Wellbeing Place in Broken Hill. We are here to help you and will assist in building a network to support your health.
In spirit, we asked some of our colleagues in the RFDSSE Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs teams what they recommend to support men's health. Listen to their recommendations in this video below.
