This lecture started off with an explanation of the conjunctival cyst causes. The conjunctival cyst pathology consist of various types including retention cysts and lymphatic cysts of conjunctiva alongside epithelial implantation cyst and parasitic cysts. These can be treated via careful surgical excision or histopathological examination.
On the other hand, the tumors of conjunctiva are of two broad categories viz non-pigmented and pigmented tumors. Amongst the former, dermoids, lipodermoid and benign tumors are highlighted. Whereas, carcinoma in situ is explained under premalignant tumors.
In addition to this, light has been shed on the conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma and ocular surface squamous Neoplasia. The later has three main forms. These include leukoplakic form, papillomatous and gelatinous form.
Furthermore, basal cell carcinoma in conjunction with Naevi and precancerous melanosis are comprehensively elucidated. In the end, malignant melanoma has been conversed about which can be treated via enucleation or exenteration.
