So how do you know when your cannabis plants need transplanting? As soon as your female reveals her sex—around late June to early July—it’s time for the final transplant. If you’re doing your cannabis transplant outdoors, ensure that your plant will have enough space to expand freely—approximately 6 feet in diameter. For pest control, consider including some companion plants like cloves or potatoes around your cannabis.

If you’re working with young plants, avoid cannabis transplant shock by keeping the roots protected. Water them in their pot for easy removal and gently scuff the roots to promote spreading in the ground or new pot.

Remember that while you provide the best possible conditions for your crop, not all plants will survive all the growing phases. Don’t let this get you down; it’s expected in the cultivation process.
