Kaoklai Kaennorsing is in my opinion the bravest kickboxer in martial arts history. BJJ is often credited as the art that defeats bigger men. But... I bet if you allowed some of the best Muay Thai fighters to fight bigger men, there are some that would do very well. Why do I say this? Well, because it has happened historically.
In this video, I feature the "Giant Killer." Kaoklai is Saenchai’s teammate from the legendary Jocky gym, who also had other legendary matrix fighters such as Somrak, Silapathai, and Lerdsila.
Kaoklai beat many fighters weighing over 250 pounds, and squared off against some of the best heavyweights of all time in very close fights.
When Kaoklai entered the 2004 K1 heavyweight tournament weighing about 170 pounds, he would face Mighty Mo in quarter finals, who at the time was 10-1 with nearly all KOs. This high kick would become iconic and Kaoklai would be known as the “Giant Killer.”
The fact is that Muay Thai fighters have been historically under recognized. It’s starting to change now, but it’s still got a long way to go. Recognize the greats.
I will be featuring Kaoklai's strategic style and legend as well as many other historic fighters.
