In 2009, UNDP Crimea Integration and Development Programme (CIDP) and UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre, supported four districts of Crimea, Ukraine in elaboration of strategic development plans. These provide the basis of local policy on improved standards of living today and in the future. The planning process successfully applied for the first time Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). SEA, unique for the region of Crimea and still rarely applied in Ukraine, is the approach to ensure environment is properly reflected in the planning and equally treated with economic and social aspects of development.
