Avoiding the worst consequences of climate change by reducing global carbon emissions to as close to zero as possible is one of humanity’s most pressing challenges. Prof. Duvivier will illustrate how critically this deep decarbonization project depend on rules that regulate everything from transportation to building to the legal ability to produce power in a decentralized way.
Professor K.K. DuVivier teaches at DU’s Sturm College of Law, focusing on wind, solar, and energy efficiency. She is known for “The Renewable Energy Reader” (2011) and the just published volume “Energy Law Basics” (2017). Professor DuVivier initially worked as a field geologist, and after earning her J.D., she practiced for eight years, first in natural resources law at the law firms of Sherman & Howard and Arnold & Porter, then as an Assistant City Attorney in the land use and revenue section for the City and County of Denver.
