My usual go-to method of creating almond croissants is to use premade croissants, but this version using puff pastry is just as easy and results in a delicious, customizable treat! The perfect addition to your brunch table or as an anytime snack 🥰
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups almond meal
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/4 cup apple sauce
6 tbsp softened salted butter
Directions:
1. Cut your thawed puff pastry into squares and set aside.
2. Using a stand mixer, whisk together all of the ingredients until smooth.
3. Add 1 tbsp of the mixture to the middle of half of the puff pastry squares, setting aside 1/4 cup of the mixture.
4. Top with a second piece of puff pastry.
5. Press the edges together with your fingers.
6. Dilute the remaining almond paste with 1-2 tbsp milk and spread on top of each pastry.
7. Top with sliced almonds and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Sprinkle on powdered sugar before serving and enjoy!
