Gareth Bale scores the winner vs. Barcelona in Copa del Rey Final match with the joy
Gareth Bale scored an amazing solo goal late on to win the Copa Del Rey Final for Real Madrid, as they downed Barcelona 2-1 in Valencia.
The Welshman picked up the ball in the Barcelona half and knocked the ball past Marc Bartra, before stepping five yards onto the outside of the pitch, beating him for pace, then returning to the field to poke it past goalkeeper Jose Pinto.
The goal means that Bale has well and truly instated himself on the Real Madrid scene, with a cup-winning goal in an El Clasico game being just about the best achievement possible to win over any Madrid fan.
Angel Di Maria opened the scoring for Madrid after just eleven minutes through a brilliant move involving Isco, Bale and Karim Benzema.
Barcelona then hit back in the second-half through a Xavi corner that was met with a strong header from Bartra. But then Bale turned on the heat in front of a watching Cristiano Ronaldo to write his name in Real Madrid history, as he breezed past the Barcelona man to go onto score the winner and claim the first major trophy of his career.
Neymar had a last-gasp chance to grab a second equaliser, but the Brazilian's shot cannoned off the post and back into the hands of Iker Casillas to squander any hope of a revive.
