The sound of explosions echoed around the Bosnian town of Sanski
Most on Monday, prompting fears that fighting is still continuing
in the region despite a five-day-old nationwide ceasefire. Bosnian
government troops in the town itself blamed the Serbian soldiers
for continued fighting. The Government men are on a high state of
alert and are staying close to their tanks and other heavy armour
preparing for the next phase of the war. One soldier said the
Serbs were deliberately launching grenades and other shells to
provoke them. If they continue, he added, they would launch at
offensive themselves. A second soldier said his side was
respecting the peace but they would only be pushed so far.
