It has been a while since I last posted anything here. I have been working hard on this latest project, Apocalypse of a Soul. This represents Parts 1-7. The inspiration behind it has been a story I am writing, which begins in Bedlam (St Mary of Bethlehem Hospital) in 1862. The music, is instrumental in nature and in my usual style. If you enjoyed Herongale and the Moonbeam Station, I think you will like this. And yes, there will be Parts 8-14 eventually, hopefully by the end of the year. And it will be posted at some point in the near future on my Bandcamp page for the nominal sum of .50pence. The concept for Tenebrae, which was inspired by a book written by C.S.Lewis called The Great Divorce, began in concept form more than five years ago with the release of "A Presence of Light". But the idea of an Otherworldly town/city/village began more than fifteen years ago with the Foxhalt Edge and Canterbury Black albums. Characters from books I have enjoyed at one time or another, Tolkien's Middle-Earth books, the Elric novels, The Chronicles of Narnia, Children of the Stones, Wind in the Willows, The Sherlock Holmes stories, The Arthurian legends, to name a few, appear in my own storyline in various reinvented ways. Tenebrae is Otherworldly and involves alternative histories and storylines. It is not an original concept, I admit. A similar idea appeared in the excellent movie, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. And of course books involving alternative worlds are too numerous to mention. I was inspired by several movies in this respect, The Trueman Show, The Dark City, to name just two. But as I said earlier, the main influence remains C.S.Lewis's The Great Divorce. I am a Christian and I have Christian influences. I make no apologies for the fact that I owe a debt to Christ that I could never repay. The music is here for you to enjoy, nevertheless. I have received considerable criticism from Christian sources that my music is too dark, even demonic, to be called Christian. My answer to that is simple. I am an artist. Art is about light and shadow. I can not think of a single book or movie that does not have elements of both light and darkness moving in tension to one another. "The Light shines in the darkness". So enjoy this music if you will, regardless of where you are or your religious or non religious beliefs. This is for you.
