Yes, the AdLib in this video is emulated (it's DOSBox), so it does sound somewhat better on the real thing. It doesn't change the fact that Sierra specifically wrote the music for the MT-32 and typically didn't do a very good job with their AdLib conversion (this game was particularly bad).
I have recently acquired a real, authentic Roland MT-32 and decided to make this video to demonstrate just how superior it was compared to its rivals of the day. The MT-32 leaves the AdLib completely outclassed.
If you're wondering how a Sound Blaster compares to this, it uses the same Yamaha OPL2 synthesizer chip as the AdLib, so it sounds the same.
