The 25-year-old Muscovite Daniil Dubov is one of the most brilliant and unusual chess players of his generation. When thinking about him, it's difficult to think with the usual standards. Contrary to his collegues, he has a wide outlook on the world and he looks at the chess board with a different perspective, playing for pleasure and not strictly for results.

Whether he is as fanatical as Carlsen, well, he might. He tried his luck at qualifying to the Candidates, or fought in order to play super tournaments... Dubov only does what he likes: he answers interviews for the most important sport platforms in the country, he does his show, takes interviews with FIDE President and is utterly indifferent to what other people think. On about everything Daniil has views of his own, which is what he most values.
