When Jay was studying Geopolitics, Territory and Security at Kings College, he never thought that a cute digital giraffe would be the key to his professional success! At that time he loved drawing and was having fun exploring animation possibilities on his computer. He enjoyed success making free web browser games as a hobby until the trend shifted away from online play. He was left with a choice – should he knuckle down and make the transition to X Box and Playstation or walk away?
Luckily for the gaming world, Jay committed to developing games as his full-time career and began to collaborate with development studio Massive Monster. Determined to make a family-friendly game without blood or violence, one that players of all ages could enjoy, he came up with Adventure Pals, an adventure game about a boy, his magical giraffe called Sparkles and a pet rock. ‘I’m lucky that not many other games have a giraffe in them!’ admits Jay.
The game was met with rave reviews and quickly became a smash hit. His next game NEVER GIVE UP is coming to console very soon. He hopes to continue to make educational games that are full of personality and open to everyone, and also wants Massive Monster to build on its success, providing jobs for other UK developers.
