A time-lapse video of the construction and renovation of the New Hampshire Institute of Art's new "green" 88 Lowell Street building. Construction began in October 2008 and was completed in October 2009.
The construction of 88 Lowell Street included an historic renovation to the original building, Manchesters first high school, and development of the 6-story addition, which rests behind the original structure. The Institute has incorporated alternate energies into both buildings to ensure an environmentally friendly status. The green energies used for the building make it the first green mixed-use building on a college campus in the state of New Hampshire. Green features include photovoltaic collection systems, geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater collection and a green roof, all in an effort to reduce the Institutes carbon footprint.
