Europe in 2021 experienced its worst wildfire outbreak in living memory. Devastating and prolonged drought caused intense outbreaks across the continent releasing a total of 1760 megatonnes of carbon emissions. Fueled by increasing global temperatures, they are easily the worst in over a decade. In Greece specifically, 2021 led to eight times the historical average of acres burned yearly.
S.O.S Earth is a new Bad Day HQ series where we take a lense to a specific topic of disaster around the world and investigate it. Stay tuned for where our series takes us!
