Sunshine and temperatures above -10*C mean it's time to get out of the house and do a little railfanning. Here's a sample of some local trains that run almost daily on CN and CP around Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Jointed rail and vintage EMD leaders abound, these secondary subdivisions, on CN especially, are a time capsule of sorts. The three trains shown running on 3 different subdivisions in this video all ran within 4 hours of each other and originated from Red Deer.
Train 555 - Red Deer-Red Deer (Joffre Turn) rumbles along eastward from the CN/CP interchange. We see it crossing the Burbank bridge high over the Blindman river MP ~36 - Brazeau Sub. Minutes later crossing Township road 393A in Burbank, here it pauses to drop off a couple sand cars in the little CN Burbank yard, MP 35 - Brazeau Sub. Lastly, we catch it coasting downgrade in dynamics going over a little wooden trestle at MP 26.8 - Brazeau Sub.

Train A27 CP Rimbey wayfreight westbound on the CP Hoadly sub, west of Lacombe, Alberta. We watch it cross Range Road 25.5 then go back to MP 3 / Range Road 27.3 where I took photos only.

Finally we catch a northbound local, possibly A30, on the Leduc sub out of Red Deer, which could have been any of a handful of switchers that run daily. Picking up speed as it cruises downgrade at Range Road 272B approaching CP's Blindman river crossing around MP 9 - much lower than CN's crossing of the same river only a couple miles away.
