Noam Chomsky gave this five part lecture on Canadian radio in 1988. In it he talks about the need for elites' need to have control of their citizens' thoughts in democratic societies.
The notes from the lectures were finalized into one of his seminal works, the book of the same title: _Necessary Illusions_. This lecture series was a sort of rough draft of the final work.
