Quavo was born Quavious Keyate Marshall on April 2, 1991, in Athens, Georgia, and he grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Quavo was raised by his mother, Edna Marshall, who was a hairdresser with his two sisters, Treet and Shara Reed. His father, Mr. Marshall, died when he was four years old. Quavo has a height of 5 feet 10 inches tall or 1.78 metres, and he weighs 73 kg or 160 pounds. Quavo attended Berkmar High School and was the starting quarterback of its football team during the 2009 season. He had dreams of becoming a professional football player, but he dropped out of school in his senior year to pursue a career in music. He developed an interest in hip hop music when he was in seventh grade and started making songs with his nephew Takeoff and his cousin Offset. The trio formed a group called Polo Club, which they later changed to Migos. The three members of Migos grew up together in Gwinnett County, a mostly suburban area 20–30 minutes northeast of Atlanta. In May 2020, Quavo announced on his Instagram account that he had graduated from high school after dropping out 11 years earlier.
Quavo bought a 11,000-square-foot mansion in the Buckhead area, which he purchased for $2.58 million in 2020. The house has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half-baths, a pool, a spa, a wine cellar, and a four-car garage. Quavo also customized the house with some personal touches, such as a basketball court with his name on it and a wall of sneakers in his closet.
One of the houses he rented was a castle-like mansion in the Country Club of the South neighborhood, which was inspired by the Chateau de Chenonceau in France. The house has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, four half-baths, two offices, two staff apartments, and a secret door that leads to a music studio. Quavo paid $10,000 a month to live there in 2019.
