Trevan, have you come to observe the late night splendor of our city? Dro'khur is afraid that it is not like it once used to be. Especially on the eastern bank. Khajiit recalls how the city once greeted travelers with a story or song. Merchants from west, south, north and even east. Yes, even from the Rim, as hard as it is for Dro'khur to believe. Before the wars, floats carrying goods would come down the rivers and all would meet in the great Bazaar... The streets bustled with people from all over. This one can remember the scent of saffron on his whiskers in the morning, the loud haggling from the streets and busy cranking carts passing by. This one thought that this city would never fall asleep.
Yet then... Slowly, like a tumultuous kitten before the night of storms... It slowly started giving into the slumber. After the moons, our mane disappeared. And after him Elsweyr. But the elves would soothe our worries, for the mane's chosen would continue in his stead. Some queen in the far south and the worried king sitting in his throne in the west. Dro'khur was uncaring as ever, as saffron would still greet this Khajiit's nose in the morning as he would greet the travelers with a note. Though as bentness arrives to one in silence, so did the worry in one's mind. The king allied to the elves as did the queen in the south. The city in the east allied to itself. The lands of men in the north would care little for us, seeing our city as the same as rest of the Dominion. So the trade would dwindle and with it the scent of saffron in the morning.
And then the war happened. Though we got more to trade with it, unlike in Anequina, the wars are not forever elsewhere. And so after that one, came another, smaller one in the east. All Dro'khur wishes is that him and his city was left at peace. Yet with each passing year, this one starts doubting that it will happen. Like with the silent bazaar, like the abandoned eastern part of the city, like the silent streets... Dro'khur is the last from his street now. No one is left to remember the last days of saffron. Only him. But this one is leaving now, as there is nothing left for him, just sadness. This one will leave for Skingrad or Dune. Perhaps this one will find more luck there. Stay around for a bit, if you want. Before Dro'khur leaves, let him show you his instrument collection. Perhaps you will find a better use for it, for Dro'khur no longer wants to sing his lullaby as the city has finally fallen asleep.
