I'm excited to report that Jules is doing amazing! We spent the first week working with her on the ground getting her dignity and respect back. This was a girl that needed horse help fast and it still brings tears to my eyes when I think of where we started. She's finally happy to be with us instead of wanting to bite and kick us. We worked on jumping up and down beside her and eventually laying over her back so she could accept the human. Training a horse like this to accept the human has not been an easy task. Every time we have gone to play with her we have had to drive her away until she starts asking questions and truly wants to play with us. With the horse problems she came to us with we have really had to stay in tune with her. We read her every movement so we can accommodate her needs at any given time making sure we don't push her too far or we tend to lose the trust we have worked so hard to gain.
We then put a bareback pad on her and drove her around so she could get use to the cinch and accept the equipment and did the same with the saddle. She really does well with all the equipment it's more the human that she doesn't want to trust. We work on the human connection every day and it's by far the most challenging. It's such a shame that she lost that when she was sent away for training. BUT...we are building it back and she really is a much happier horse now with fewer horse problems than we started with. Check out the video to see the language we have built and how we are progressing training a horse by the name of Jules. It's been an amazing transformation and I'm honoured to be able to help her. She is a lovely girl and was so misunderstood.
