Gas Powered Spin Screed

The system utilizes a rigid, heavy-duty pipe that connects to a T-handle at each end. The “live” T-handle houses a power unit that supplies power to the pipe. The pipe rests on the top of the concrete forms. As the pipe spins across the forms, it screeds the concrete flat and smooth.
Let’s see it in action on an actual project!
To get started, pour the concrete into the form, working in small sections. Spread the concrete out towards the edges and into the corners. Marshalltown placers are an easy way to manage the concrete.
Now it’s time to screed the concrete. First, start the engine, and then align the pipe with the front edge of the form. Next, throttle up the engine to get the pipe to spin. Then slowly pull the Spin Screed across the concrete, keeping the pipe parallel to the front edge and perpendicular to the forms. The spinning pipe screeds the concrete as it moves across the forms, leaving it smooth, flat, and level! It also keeps the aggregate within the concrete closer to the surface.
As the process continues concrete helpers will need to move excess concrete away from the back side of the pipe. If too much concrete builds up behind the pipe, it may throw small bits of concrete over the top. To blend in the additional concrete, go back over the slab to flatten it out again.
Helpers also need to keep enough concrete behind the spinning pipe to prevent low spots and voids. If this happens, add additional concrete, and screed the slab again.
Once the screed is complete, clean-up is easy! Just spray the pipe with a water hose as it spins.
The Marshalltown Spin Screed is designed to handle just about any slab with ten pipe lengths to choose from. It’s available in shorter lengths from 4’, to 8’, medium lengths from 10’, to 16’, and longer lengths from 18’ to 22’ lengths.
