Potential Tropical Cyclone One formed Monday afternoon and is likely become the first named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. “Albert” is expected to develop into a tropical system at some point on Tuesday and make landfall in Mexico late Wednesday. Even though the maximum sustained winds are not projected to be all that strong (50-55 mph), this is still a potentially dangerous system as it will likely produce heavy, flooding rains over parts of Mexico and south Texas. While the center of storm is forecast to move into Mexico, parts of south Texas could still see 6-9” of rain. Surf will likely get rough along the coast, and some storm surge is possible too.
