This is the moment an elephant that fell down a well was rescued - and hauled to safety by a crane and winch strapped to its legs.

The young animal toppled 50ft after it was chased by a dog in the village of Panchapali in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

But it was rescued following a sixteen hour struggle by a team of wildlife veterinarians led by Dr Prakash.
