In this audio recording, I share the "Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta," translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu, which means "Setting the Wheel of Dhamma in Motion." The text recounts a conversation between the Buddha and a group of five monks at Varanasi. The Buddha discusses "The Middle Way", which avoids indulging in sensual pleasure and self-affliction, and leads to calm, knowledge, and self-awakening. He explains the noble truths of stress, its origination, cessation, and the way of practice. The recording ends with the Buddha's declaration of his enlightenment, the Devas' exalted reactions and the acknowledgement by the Buddha that Venerable Kondanna became a Sotapanna.
