Traditional, very poetic wedding song from the area of Chalkidiki, Macedonia, Northern Greece, rich in symbols of good luck and prosperity for the new couple, like rose petals, the partridge and the nest. The tune is traditionally known in two versions, in 7/8 and 3/4 time signatures. My arrangement is based on the combination of both versions, with a dynamic and rhythmic approach in the 7/8 section, and a sweeter, polyphonic arrangement in the 3/4 part. -Simone Mongelli-
Lyrics:
On the rose tree,
the partridge built its nest,
and the birds come back and forth.
They gently shake the tree,
and the rose leaves fall down,
right onto the bride’s dress.
