A future status for the UK outside the European Union as spelled out by the Prime Minister would present very little change for Gibraltar, since it has been living a ‘Hard Brexit’ situation since it joined the EU 44 years ago. That is the Chief Minister’s analysis following Theresa May’s announcement today.
Fabian Picardo says nothing in Ms May’s statement will have come as a surprise to Gibraltar, and says the Government is well prepared to face whatever challenges Brexit may bring.
He spoke to Jonathan Sacramento, who put it to him that today’s scenario although widely anticipated, was not something Gibraltar would have wished for.
