The CGI in Babylon 5 looks worse now that it did when the show aired, because the CGI scenes were cropped and scaled to create widescreen versions, and the process of cropping and scaling was badly done with errors made. The exception is the TNT edit of the Babylon 5 pilot which did have a DVD release. This is the only Babylon 5 CGI that wasn't converted to widescreen so it doesn't have the same problems. The CGI of the station looks a lot better!
If Babylon 5 were remastered in 4:3 non-widescreen all the CGI would look like this, even without re-rendering. This is upscaled without the errors.
The TNT edit of the original pilot replaced some original CGI shots of the outside station with later season CGI shots, so this is roughly how season 4/5 of Babylon 5 would have looked.

I should note that even sticking to a widescreen version - a version that will require cropping and scaling the CGI scenes - the transfer could be done much better and look a lot cleaner than it does on the existing widescreen version.
