The County Government has today engaged residents from across Kitui to register their views and inputs on the annual Budget Estimates for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Deputy Governor Augustus Kanani attended the forum which was being spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Revenue Management led by CECM Peter Kilonzo.
DG Kanani reiterated the county administration's dedication to continue implementing transformative initiatives as outlined in the 16-sector development blueprint "The Kitui Promise."
CEC Kilonzo was flanked by the Chief Officer for Finance John Makau Kimwele and his counterpart for Economic Planning and Budgeting Patrick Munuve alongside other senior County Treasury officers.
The forum brought together members of the public as well as representatives of the Civil Society, private sector and state agencies, among other stakeholders offering a platform for them to interrogate and make proposals on the Budget Estimates.
The drive is in line with Governor Dr. Julius Malombe's administration's endeavor to foster an all-inclusive, accountable and transparent governance as well as provisions of the Public Finance Management Act (2012).
Also present were CECMs Ruth Mwanzia (Health), Fredrick Kimanga (Lands and Urban Development) and Dr. Stephen Mbaya (Agriculture), Chief Officers and senior officers from the various County Ministries and Departments who presented their respective budgetary projections and development initiatives for the next fiscal year to the participants.
The exercise was held at KEFRI grounds in Kitui Town.
