Hailed as a towering figure of modern dance, Paul Taylor's choreography was often complex and always human. A virtuosic performer who sometimes pushed the boundaries of what was considered dance, his success grew from his unique eye for observation. Taylor died Wednesday of kidney failure at age 88.
