The Charging Bull or The Wall Street Bull is a 7,100-pound bronze sculpture that can be seen at the Bowling Green in the Financial District in Manhattan. Without permission, the sculptor, Arturo Di Modica and his friends installed the sculpture on Broad Street right in front of the New York Stock Exchange in the wee hours of December 15, 1989. NYSE had it removed and transported it to the impound lot before the day was over. Due to public outcry, the sculpture found its permanent home near Bowling Green. It was the artist’s Christmas gift to NYC, as a symbol of strength, optimism, power, and hope – the antidote to the massive Wall Street crash of 1987. This is another popular tourist attraction. It's really difficult for photographers to get some pictures without anyone in the background. It's best to visit this spot as early as possible to avoid the crowd. Fearless Girl is a bronze sculpture that is meant to "send a message" about workplace gender diversity and encourage companies to recruit women to their boards. The Fearless Girl is no longer next to the bull. She has been relocated to stand opposite the New York Stock Exchange.
This attraction is FREE.
