"The RL16 is the largest model that I make. With a deep body, 16” lower bout, and scale length of 25.5”, this guitar has impressive fullness and depth of resonance, while still maintaining excellent balance across the strings." - Ryan Gerber
Ryan Gerber is a selective builder, handcrafting only three carefully designed models out of his Ohio-based workshop. The 0000 or jumbo OM-sized RL16 is an inspiring soloist's instrument, especially when outfitted in the tonewoods seen on this exceptional 2020 model. The large, beautifully figured "Fallen Giant" mahogany tree was discovered in Honduras by the folks at Hibdon Hardwood. While it may not sport the same elaborate figuring as "The Tree" mahogany, to our ears, it has a similar tonal quality. Mahogany's warm midrange and focus comes with a dose of rosewood-like sustain and nuance. Master-grade Swiss moon spruce, which sits between Sitka and Adirondack on the stiffness scale, provides a perfect balance of clarity, note definition, and best of all, volume. Even a light touch draws surprising power out of this guitar.
