Mez has been in the music industry for about 4 years as a rapper, writer and producer. But J. Cole's "Middle Child" is the first video he's directed alongside co-director, Scott Lazer.
Mez drew inspiration from movies, his upbringing, and the song’s message to create the video’s concept. He sat down with us to dish on how they and Cole came up with the concepts for the video, what many of the scenes have to say about the portrayal of black women, cultural appropriation, and to put rest to all the rumors about the heads on the mantle.
