During the Second World War, the deadliest siege in human History took place inside the Soviet city of Leningrad. The Siege Of Leningrad resulted in around 1,500,000 people succumbing to slaughter as the Germans surrounded the city and they systematically starved the people of the city. The hunger in the city was a huge problem, but there were also many air raids that caused devastation.
The citizens of Leningrad suffered greatly and the siege would last almost 2 and a half years. The defenders of the city continued to fight on when they could, but they would eventually relieve the siege. But Hitler had been intent on destroying Leningrad and anyone who lived inside, but he caused a huge amount of damage.
