...Source: [ Ссылка ] Transcript: According to Teslarati, Tesla's expansion plans for Giga Berlin have hit a new hurdle. The Brandenburg State Office for the Environment was expected to approve the first part of the expansion by fall 2024. However, local media reports hint at a delay.
Tesla's plant manager, André Theirig, revealed the company initially hoped for approval between January and March this year. Tesla and state authorities agreed to a new schedule in the fall. Some reports suggest Tesla's job cuts might have influenced the delay. In April, Tesla cut 400 jobs from Giga Berlin.
Despite these challenges, Tesla remains optimistic. A spokesperson stated the company is confident the next expansion steps can be initiated soon in coordination with state authorities.
The expansion aims to increase Giga Berlin's production capacity from 500,000 to 1 million Electric Vehicles. The Brandenburg State Office has approved initial work within the existing facility. This includes a logistics area, underground lines, staircases at the press shop, and rooftop solar panels. Forest clearing activities have not yet been approved.
