The harsh reality of solo travel is that it’s not all cute Instagram pictures and wild adventures.

And I feel like it isn’t exclusive to just travel but in chasing dreams or doing things that you’ve always wanted. Getting into the dream school or dream job. Things aren’t always good. Or just doing things you’ve always idealized.

For myself I am realizing that life no matter what good things I want to chase, what shiny dreams I have, there will be good times and bad. Times when I’m struggling and times where life will feel unreal. Like anything there will be ebbs and flows. But even in the low points there are lessons to be learned.

I have this philosophy that I’m trying to adapt, but I never lose, I merely learn. In a way that keeps me winning in the way that I define it. Solo travel specifically especially in this first few weeks. It’s not easy. I haven’t left the country for this long in…like 8 years? I’ve had the same friends and relatively consistent surroundings for awhile and it was jarring. It’s not easy. Navigating a place that is completely out of your comfort zone drom@the language to the culture to the people around you.

BUT just because it is hard doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it. That is something I am realizing. That the good things in life are worth fighting for. And that perhaps, we are stronger than we ever thought possible. ❤️
