Today I am going to show you how to make Royal Icing using egg whites. This recipe is really easy and it requires only 3 simple ingredients. Royal Icing is used mostly to decorate cookies, you can color it however you prefer but in this video, I will leave it white. This recipe is prefect with Christmas around the corner and all the cookies we are about to be making. The recipe and my links are all below.

Royal Icing with Egg Whites

3 egg whites
4 cups of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice

In a large bowl, beat egg whites on high speed until foamy. Switch to low speed and gradually add the sugar into the egg whites until it's completely incorporated. Then add the lemon juice and beat on high speed until the icing is very thick and forms stiff peaks, this takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Store extra icing refrigerator in an airtight container. Also use thicker icing to outline and add details to cookies. To fill in cookies (flooding the cookies) use thinner icing and you can thin the icing by adding a little water to it until it is the right consistency.
